This lovely shelving unit was custom built for a little Fortnite lover. We started the process by collecting all the materials needed for this project. In this case, it was two wooden pallets. We make sure that all materials we use are safe. That is why we only use heat-treated pallets for our home decoration projects.
Then we ''break the pallets'', that means separating good wood from the damaged and taking out all of the nails. About the nails, you would be surprised at how many nails can be used to make such a small pallet! We will take a photo to show you this next time. After all that, we need to make sure that the wood is dry.
Here is a little woodworking fact for you: The acceptable wood moisture content normally ranges from 6% to 8% for woodworkers who build cabinets, fine furniture, musical instruments, dishes, toys, decorative art, boat restoration, or various other wood products.
The next steps are to:
- clean the wood
- measure
- cut
- sand
- assemble
- paint
Then you will end up with a lovely piece like the one in this photo.
In the next posts, we will tell you more about the 'next step', and break down the whole wood preparation process.
Here are some more photos of this completed project.
We want you to see all the behind-the-scenes activities and how much love and passion we put into making our wooden creations so keep an eye out for more posts...
... and remember
Reclaimed wood is simply wood with a past life used for a new purpose.
See you next time
